| It's inexplicable why I'm updating my xanga on a random Friday night at almost 1 am. Yes, it is. I should sleep soon. And don't worry, I will. Just not for too long because 1) the USA plays England in the quarterfinals tomorrow, 2) I'm hosting a recruit, and she's meeting with the coach at 8, and 3) I have some homework and studying tomorrow that's nothing to sneeze at. However, things are going very well. School is good - of course busy, but I'm managing to enjoy myself too :) - classes are fine, soccer is fun, and my knee rehab is going pretty well. I hope to begin jogging soon... My apologies for the dull, dry nature of this long-awaited post. I'm not sure if I'm passed or pending the delirious stage, but I'm fading now and I'm about to go to bed. It's kinda hard to convey delirium here anyway... Love you, hope to see you soon! | | |
| I'm in Oklahoma with my awesome Select team getting to play soccer at Regionals and have a ton of fun! All of which is awesome. Except for the fact that it is raining. A lot. We were lucky - we had an early game and got to play (albeit, the field was really wet), but half the games today are postponed, and I have no idea when we'll play our others. This is the 17th straight day of rain out here, and our waitress at lunch today said it wasn't supposed to stop until July 8. That is crazy. Still, soccer, friends, and our last regionals are fun. Summer's half way over. That's crazy. Mine's been good though. Fairly relaxing except for workouts and drives to Jackson for practice, with sporadic spurts of activity, which have also been good. I leave for Mexico for a week a week from tomorrow!!! Beth Ann comes home Monday. Um...life is good. I recommend Through Painted Deserts by Donald Miller. And I've heard his other books are good, too. Life is an adventure. Peace, love, and raindrops....keep fallin' on my head...just like the guy who's feet were too big for his bed... | | |
| My sister is in Spain. My cousin is in Costa Rica. Yay for them, but I'm hurting! :) You know, it's kinda scary how okay I am with being a bum (which I'm doing, other than some soccer and running here and there.) Happy summer! | | |
| I have some very international friends. Several are in Africa, which is fantastic. Beth Ann is in Spain for five weeks, which is almost exclusively fantastic. I can't wait to see all the pictures and hear all the stories. Went to graduation on Friday. It was definitely different sitting there watching a year after participating, but it was a lot of fun, too. Congrats to the grads... Today is Memorial Day. Besides it being just a nice, relaxing time with friends and family, it's also pretty meaningful. I suppose it's easy to overlook, but what an opportunity to be thankful for all the brave ones who fight for us. Dad and I went by the cemetery earlier - I hadn't been in awhile. Granddaddy had a stone indicating his platoon and a little flag honoring his service - there were hundreds of flags out there. I still miss him, but I'm thankful for the great man he was and the time we had with him. | | |
| I just slept until almost 11:00. I couldn't tell you the last time I did that. It was fantastic. I certainly didn't last weekend, but it was much fun. After thoroughly enjoying a Lindsey shower (Beth Ann's roommate, getting married in August), we stayed over there with other girls, and Beth Ann and Amber graciously agreed to get up with me at 5:15, allowing me to get home about 10 minutes before the 8:30 start of the Gum Tree, which I ran with Dad. Yay, Gum Tree. The festival was fun, as always, and the play TCT did (Beauty and the Beast) was fantastic. Gum Tree is one of my favorite things ever. It was great to be home for Mother's Day, too. Plus hanging out with Beth Ann, Amber, Mark, David, Taylor, and other various family members. So, my two hardest exams are over as of Monday (chemistry) and Tuesday (literature) mornings. They were both long and reasonably hard, but it's always a good feeling, through the blurry mush which is my brain, to know that it's done. So I just have one left - Spanish is Friday morning and it requires minimal (did I spell that right?) studying, especially compared to the other two. So, hence, I get to sleep in, do fun things like go bouldering, have a couple of days to relax and begin to pack up. Mom's coming Friday to help take Beth Ann's and my stuff home, after which I'm going home with Haley and most of the basement girls to Fayette for swimming and hanging and possibly Shrek the Third. And Sunday I get to see my soccer girls! So, enjoyment seems to be all around. It's pretty hard to believe freshman year is over, but I'm DEFINITELY excited that it's summer. I expect June to be crazy, traveling back and forth from Tupelo to Jackson practicing for regionals. It'll be fun, and hopefully I won't be too out of shape and the driving will be bearable. Praise to the Lord, for He is good, His love endures forever. That sentence appears often in the Psalms, and it is so true. Lord, let my walls fall down until I feel your goodness and love washing over me and overflowing from me as I learn who you are and seek your glory. Blessings, and peace, and SUMMER!!!!!! | | |
